Trials and Triumphs of Faith…….. (Must Read) It put me in tears, more than once.

Trials and Triumphs of Faith…….. (Must Read) It put me in tears, more than once...

This is a story from a book written in 1875 by a man named Robert Boyd. It's called the Trials and Triumphs of Faith. It put me in tears, more than once. A minister tells us that he was spending several days in one of our western cities. He put up at a hotel, and one morning he heard, while up in his room, the most wonderful whistling he had ever listened to. It seemed like the note of a bird, but he thought it could not be that, for there was a perfectly regular tune kept up with much power. Though he was in the third story, yet the music came gushing up in its sweet melody, and seemed to fill the whole house. He ran downstairs to get a sight of the wonderful performer, looking every man that he met in the face. At last, he asked the clerk who it was that had such amazing power as a whistler. Laughing at his simplicity he pointed him to a canary bird that had been trained to perform in this way, and was valued at $150. "How was that bird trained to sing this way?" the gentleman inquired. In reply the clerk told him that during the training process the bird was nearly starved and shut up in a room that was almost dark. While it is under this severe discipline and its attention undivided, a bird organ is made to play this one tune over and over again, for days. Hearing nothing else, and taught by his troubles, the poor little bird takes up the tune which he performs so perfectly. Thus it is that God permits his people to be afflicted that they may learn the heavenly song. He shuts them up in the dark room of sorrow, away from the tempting sights and sounds of the world, that they may, without distraction, listen to his voice and learn to sing the higher melodies of glory. Blessed are those who patiently wait the Lord's good time to work out their deliverance. When the song of Grace is fully learned, he brings them into a large place, sets their feet upon a rock, and others learn from them the sweet song of redeeming love.

Promise for the Day: Wait on the LORD, And keep His way, And He shall exalt you to inherit the land; Psalm 37:34 (New King James Version)

Daily parachutes………

Daily parachutes………

Charles Plum, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate, was a jet fighter pilot in Vietnam. After 75 combat missions, his plane was destroyed by a surface-to-air missile. Plumb ejected and parachuted into enemy hands. He was captured and spent six years in a Communist prison. He survived that ordeal and now lectures about lessons learned from that experience. One day, when Plumb and his wife were sitting in a restaurant, a man at another table came up and said, "You're Plumb! You flew jet fighters in Vietnam from the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk. You were shot down!" "How in the world did you know that?" asked Plumb. "I packed your parachute," the man replied. Plumb gasped in surprise and gratitude. The man pumped his hand and said, "I guess it worked!" Plumb assured him, "It sure did -- if your chute hadn't worked, I wouldn't be here today."Plumb couldn't sleep that night, thinking about that man. Plumb says, "I kept wondering what he might have looked like in a Navy uniform -- a Dixie cup hat, a bib in the back, and bell bottom trousers. I wondered how many times I might have passed him on the Kitty Hawk. I wondered how many times I might have seen him and not even said 'Good morning, how are you,' or anything because, you see, I was a fighter pilot and he was just a sailor." Plumb thought of the many hours the sailor had spent on a long wooden table in the bowels of the ship carefully weaving the shrouds and folding the silks of each chute, holding in his hands each time the fate of someone he didn't know. Now, Plumb asks his audience, "Who's packing your parachute? Everyone has someone who provides what they need to make it through the day." Plumb also points out that he needed many kinds of parachutes when his plane was shot down over enemy territory -- he needed his physical parachute, his mental parachute, his emotional parachute, and his spiritual parachute. He called on all these supports before reaching safety. His experience reminds us all to prepare ourselves to weather whatever storms lie ahead. SUGGESTION: Recognize and be gracious to people who pack your daily parachutes, and strengthen yourself to prevail through tough times.

Promise for the Day: Be exalted, O LORD, in Your own strength! We will sing and praise Your power. Psalm 21:13 (New King James Version)

Come Discover Love Beyond Reason

Dare?

Bible Translator William Tyndale (1494-1536) had removed the word "fear" from his vocabulary. That's why he stood firm in his conviction even though he was to be burnt alive!

Dare to be a Daniel! Dare to stand alone!
Dare to have a purpose firm! Dare to make it known!
Hold the Gospel banner high! On to vict'ry grand!
Satan and his host defy, and shout for Daniel's Band!

Friend’s, Beware of our enemy....................

Friend's, Beware of our enemy....................

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Have you ever heard about how the Eskimos kill wolves? You're not going to believe this one! First the Eskimo coats the blade of his knife with animal blood and allows it to freeze. He then adds and freezes more layers of blood, several coats, in fact, until the blade is completely covered with frozen blood. Next, he plants his knife in the snow, the blade facing up and goes about his business. When a wolf finds his way to the luring aroma of fresh blood, he starts licking. Then more and more vigorously, lapping it until the sharp blade of the knife is exposed. However, by this point, so intense is his craving for the scrumptious blood, that the wolf does not notice the sharp sting of the blade on his own tongue, nor does he even realize that his ravenous craving is now being satisfied by his very own blood! By light of dawn, the Eskimo will find him laying dead in the snow. Sin entices and seduces us in precisely the same way. Satan lures us to the place where he plans, to ravage us with some sort of destructive fleshly pleasure -- gossip, rage, sexual sin, etc. Once we give in to its lustful pleasures, our craving for it increases. When we continue to allow ourselves to indulge, it grips us all the more. And before we know it -- it completely consumes us. Our friendships are damaged. Our marriages are broken. Our testimony, spoiled. Satan has come only to rob, kill and destroy. Friend, let's begin recognizing our enemy's tactics upon us! There is no more time to give in to his destructive ways! We must strive to walk in holiness and righteousness for the glory of God's Kingdom! There is so much work to be done!!

Promise for the Day: The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10 (New King James Version)

God Meets Our Needs...............

God Meets Our Needs.................

Our heavenly Father has promised to give us good gifts that will provide what we need. Let's look at what is ours in Christ. One universal human need is for love. Through faith in Jesus, we've been adopted as the heavenly Father's beloved children. But before this could take place, God's justice had to be satisfied. You see, we were all born with a sin nature--one bent away from the Lord. Because of the Father's great love, He sent Jesus to take our place and experience judgment for our sin. Out of deep compassion for us, Jesus willingly suffered and died so we might become part of God's family and experience His rich affection for us (John 3:16). Through our relationship with Him, this need for love is fully met. In fact, by means of salvation, our Father also provided for two other basic needs--companionship and security. When we accept God's offer of forgiveness, the Holy Spirit comes to live within us, fulfilling Jesus' promise never to leave us (Heb. 13:5). This new relationship is also permanent. What Jesus accomplished on the cross was fully accepted by God as payment for our sin-debt. Furthermore, Christ Himself promised that no one can ever snatch us out of His hand (John 10:28). Therefore, we can rest in the knowledge that we are God's children forever. That is true security. Our need for love, security, and companionship is satisfied in an intimate relationship with the Lord. Have you trusted Christ so you could be permanently adopted into God's family?

Promise for the Day: And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 (New King James Version)

Hand it over to the Lord……….

Hand it over to the Lord……….

The Price of Prayerlessness, The heavenly Father wants His children talking with Him. Jesus gave an invitation to speak with God about anything. He said that if you have a need, ask; if you seek answers, you will find them; if you want opportunities to open up, knock and He will respond (Matt. 7:7-8). Even so, there are believers who do not bother communicating with the Lord, except in emergencies. Forsaking prayer is costly to a person's well-being. Those who will not make time for God daily are on a slippery slope. They slide through weariness, discouragement, and doubt to land in a testimony-damaging situation. Today we will focus on the first phase--weariness. Tomorrow we can examine the rest of the descent. Certain situations take an emotional, physical, and spiritual toll--we call these burdens. Such low points can wear us out if we try to endure them alone. But God does not intend for that weight to fall on our shoulders. In fact, the Bible commands that those loads be cast upon Jesus Christ (Ps. 55:22). "Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden," cries David in Psalm 68:19. Remember, He is doing all the work to straighten out your circumstances anyway. So there's no point in both Him and you carrying that weight. Hauling all our worries and cares around is wearying because we are not built for such loads. In God's design, His strength fills the believer to capacity. Picture Jesus' shoulders just above your own--with Him bearing your problems. The burden does not disappear, but it feels blessedly lighter when you hand it over to the Lord.

Greatest act of love………..

Greatest act of love………..

It used to amaze me what people really think about you, with all the time invested in them and other things you do. The listening, the caring, and the encouragement you give them every day; those things are not always appreciated in any kind of way. The overtures of friendship offered and the ear you give to their woes; they still can turn out to be your most awful foes. Instead of returning your non judgmental stance, you discover that they have been judging you unfairly quite by chance. You discover there has been murmuring about some mistake they think you have made; when all throughout their life history, their mistakes do not fade. Yet you fail to stop to their level because you know it is not right, It is still hard to accept that ones you thought were your friends were only ships passing you by night. So through my experience, I've learned to take heed, That the greatest friend I have is Jesus, indeed. "God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Rom. 5:8). Could God have done any better? What more could He have done? Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends" (John 15:13). Hours after He said this, He did it. He laid down His life for His friends, His enemies, you and me. If you ever begin to doubt God's love for you, ever wonder if He really knows and cares about you, remember the cross. There has never been a greater act of love.

This is how we miss out something called "LIFE"................

This is how we miss out something called "LIFE"................

A boy was born to a couple after eleven years of marriage. They were a loving couple and the boy was the gem of their eyes. When the boy was around two years old, one morning the husband saw a medicine bottle open. He was late for office so he asked his wife to cap the bottle and keep it in the cupboard. His wife, preoccupied in the kitchen totally forgot the matter. The boy saw the bottle and playfully went to the bottle fascinated by its color and drank it all. It happened to be a poisonous medicine meant for adults in small dosages. When the child collapsed the mother hurried him to the hospital, where he died. The mother was stunned. She was terrified how to face her husband. When the distraught father came to hospital and saw the dead child, he looked at his wife and uttered just five words. The husband just said "I am with you Dear" The husband's totally unexpected reaction is a proactive behavior. The child is dead. He can never be brought back to life. There is no point in finding fault with the mother. Besides, if only he had taken time to keep the bottle away, this would not have happened. No one is to be blamed. She had also lost her only child. What she needed at that moment was consolation and sympathy from the husband. That is what he gave her. If everyone can look at life with this kind of perspective, there would be much fewer problems in the world. "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step". Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness, and fears. And you will find things are actually not as difficult as you think. MORAL OF THE STORY: This story is really worth reading. ..... Sometimes we spend time in asking who is responsible or whom to blame, whether in a relationship, in a job or with the people we know. By this way we miss out something called L.I.F.E.

God's Word says that those who trust in Jesus as their Savior have put off (taken off) the sinful robes and are clothed in the robe of righteousness. This is another way of saying that our sins have been washed away. Have you put on the royal robe of righteousness? Have you asked Jesus to save you from your sin? One day there will be a royal wedding. At this wedding, Jesus the lamb will be the groom. All those who believe in Jesus, members of God's church will be the bride. Today, the invitation is sent out. "The Spirit and the bride says, Come. And whoever desires, let him take of the water of life freely". Let us accept the royal invitation that God has prepared for His children. Closing moments / Prayer: Our Loving Heavenly Father, we thank You for the wonderful opportunity You have given us to be a part of the royal Heavenly wedding. Lord, help each and every one of us to accept the invitation, accepts your Son Jesus Christ in our hearts. Also, as a faithful bride help us to faithfully share this invitation with others. Let us not harden our hearts but come into your presence with humbleness. In the matchless name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ name we pray… Amen!!!

Promise for the Day: "And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come"… Whoever desires, let him take of the water of life freely."Revelation 22:17,

You're the Only Road…

You're the Only Road………….

Sometimes, I get lost upon a cloud of tears
And blinding fog, to my eye would pierce;
But I know I only have to pause and pray,
Because Lord, You're the Only Way.

When the waves of sorrow engulf my soul
And worry keeps me inside this gaunt hole;
I know that to You, everything I would lay
Because Lord, You're the Only Way.

Sometimes the knife of rage would stab my heart
And my head feels like falling apart.
I cannot find a way to mend them back but pray,
Because Lord, You're the Only Way.

You're the Only Road, I know; the Only Way,
Even if among a billion stars I'll go astray,
You will still be there, ever near,
I will always remember that, as I whisper an earnest prayer.

What is your vision............?

What is your vision................?

To have a vision for your life is to see where you could be, not where you are now. Great bible heroes move people not by what they see today, but by what they see as the future. Your vision may result in traveling down a different road than your friends. Many bible commentators have clearly defined "vision" statements. These statements allow the believers and Christian leaders to keep up the hope and what it wants to achieve. Do you know what you want, and where you are going? A personal vision statement allows you to look forward to the future with positive expectations for yourself. Before you write your vision statement, think of it as a high level statement about what you want from life. It is a statement, one to two lines at the most. From your vision statement you can then set your goals. Many people set goals but forget about the vision statement. Writing your own vision statement gives you a high level statement and will help keep you focused as you then think about setting your goals. As W. Clement Stone once said, "The world is full of dreamers, there aren't enough who will move ahead and begin to take concrete steps to actualize their vision." You can also think about your vision statement as what you are dreaming or wishing for. Joseph Campbell's quote summarizes this thought well when he said, "A dream is your creative vision for your life in the future. A Vision is what specifically you intend to make happen. Visions and goals should be just out of your present reach but not out of sight.

Promise for the Day: Where there is no vision, the people perish….. Proverbs: 29:18 (NKJV)

Steps to Happiness

Steps to Happiness…………

Everybody Knows: You can't be all things to all people. You can't do all things at once. You can't do all things equally well. You can't do all things better than everyone else. Your humanity is showing just like everyone else's. So: You have to find out who you are, and be that. You have to decide what comes first, and do that. You have to discover your strengths, and use them.
You have to learn not to compete with others, because no one else is in the contest of *being you*. Then: You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness. You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions. You will have learned to live with your limitations. You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due. And you'll be a most vital mortal. Dare To Believe:
That you are a wonderful, unique person created by God almighty. That you are a once-in-all-history event. That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are. That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish. And we'll be able to stay one up on what used to get us. May God bless you and keep you safe…

Promise for the Day: But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." John 4:14 (KJV)

Strategies for Getting Promoted…………….

Strategies for Getting Promoted…………….

Paul desired a career in the building industry. Early in his career, he was working with a large ministry to help direct several of their construction projects. As the projects were completed, Paul was asked to stay on for future projects. To keep him busy he was given a number of jobs - one of which was cleaning toilets. He recalls getting down on his knees each day and complaining to the Lord, "Lord, I'm a college graduate!" Discouraged, Paul told the Lord, "I will not leave here until You promote me. Please give me contentment with my circumstance." Paul felt totally forgotten by God. A few months later, Paul received a phone call from a man in the Midwest who owned five successful businesses who wanted to interview Paul for a job. This came as a total surprise to Paul. As he drove to the interview, he told the Lord, "I only want your will in my life, nothing else. I am content to remain obscure for the rest of my life if I have You. You must override my lack of experience for me to get this job." The owner of the company asked Paul a surprising question: "If I asked you to clean a toilet, what would you do?" Paul sat there, stunned. He wanted to burst out laughing. Paul assured him that he would simply pick up a sponge and start cleaning. Amazingly, Paul was hired even though other candidates were more qualified. After several months of success Paul asked his boss why he hired him. His boss replied, "Paul, I still have a large stack of applications from people who wanted this job. Do you remember the first question I asked you in the interview? I asked each one the same question. You were the only one who said he would clean the toilet. Paul, I am a wealthy man, but I grew up dirt poor. I clean my own toilets at home. I can't have people running my businesses who are too proud to clean a toilet." Sometimes God places us in situations to see if we will be faithful in those before He is willing to promote us to greater things.

Promise for the Day: Because God gave him power… He promoted whomever he wanted to promote, and he demoted whomever he wanted to demote. (Dan 5:19).  (GOD'S WORD ® Translation)

Where Are You.......?

Where Are You………?

Genesis 3:7-13: After not listening to God, Adam and Eve found themselves in a terrible predicament. Their first reaction was to cover up rather than "fess up." Fig leaves can never hide the root problem of sin, but even today, we still try this approach (v. 7). Instead of acknowledging and confessing sin, we often attempt a quick surface fix of the situation. Adam and Eve's second response was to avoid God. They knew they were guilty of disobeying, but instead of coming to Him to reestablish their relationship, they hid from Him in fear (v. 8). We can do the same thing when sin breaks our fellowship with the Lord. Have you ever found yourself avoiding prayer and time in the Scriptures because you were struggling with sin and felt guilty? A third reaction was to try and avoid personal responsibility by blaming others (vv. 12-13). Shifting guilt to another person can't remove it. We are each responsible before God for our actions, regardless of the circumstances or who else is involved. Despite Adam and Eve's sin and their evasive ways of handling it, the Lord came to them (v. 9). Our sin is never large enough to keep Him away; our Father still calls to us and asks, "Where are you?" He knows what we have done and why, but He questions us so that we can come to realize our desperate state. Never let guilt or shame keep you from God. He continually seeks those who have made a mess of their life and speaks to them through His Word, His Spirit, and His people. Forgiveness and a restored relationship await all who are willing to listen and respond with confession and repentance.

Promise for the Day: Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. James 5:16 (NIV)

Always Out God First In Your Life... ... ...

Always Put God First In Your Life………..

There was a boy who was very popular among others his age. He was an excellent leader in his school groups. One of his friends visited him and saw a homemade plaque in his room with the words "I Am Third" on it. His friend asked him what it meant and he replied, "It is the motto I try to use in my life. It means "God is first, others are second, and I am Third.'" The driving force in our lives should be trying to please God. Secondly, we should take into consideration the needs and pleasures of others. With our own pleasures subordinated, we will truly be the humble servants of God. By giving respect to the Creator of the universe, and knowing His love, you will begin to feel an overflow of dignity and respect for yourself and others. Putting Him first in all areas of your life will create a healthy and positive sense of respect, which is what really makes the world go round. When you do this, it restores order to your world. God first – then you. As it says in the Bible, "God will honor those who honor Him."

Promise for the Day: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)

True way to be victorious…………

True way to be victorious…………

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." Even the weakest saint can experience the power through the Son of God, when he is willing to "let go." But any effort to "hang on" to the least bit of our own power will only diminish the life of Jesus in us. We have to keep letting go, and slowly but surely, the great full life of God will invade us, penetrating every part. Then Jesus will have complete & effective dominion in us, and people will take notice that we have been with Him. God wants you to submit your heart, mind, soul and life to Him, so He can fill you with His glory (Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness) and finally Victory.

Promise for the Day: Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 3 John 1:2 (NKJV)

The Road of Life...........

The Road of Life...........

At first, I saw God as my observer, my judge, keeping track of the things I did wrong; so as to know whether I merited heaven or hell when I die. He was there sort of like a picture of a president. I recognized His picture when I saw it, but I really didn't know Him. Later on when I met Christ, it seemed as though life was like a bike ride, on a tandem bike, and I noticed that Christ was in the back helping me pedal. I don't recall when he suggested we change places, but life has not been the same since. When I had control, it was rather boring, and predictable . . . It was the shortest distance between two points. But when He took the lead, He knew the exciting paths to take, up mountains, and through rocky places at breakneck speeds -- it was all I could do to just hang on! At times it seemed like madness. He said: "Pedal!" And by faith I did, although I worried and was anxious. "Where are you taking me?" He laughed, but no answer, and I started to learn to trust. I forgot my boring life and entered into the adventure. When I'd say, "I'm scared," He'd lean back and touch my hand. He took me to people that had gifts that I needed. Gifts of healing, acceptance, love, and joy, So many priceless gifts to take. Then we were off again. He said, "Give the gifts away -- they're extra baggage now -- there'll be more gifts to come." So I did, I gave them to people we met, and found that in giving I also received, and my burden was lighter. I didn't trust him at first to be in control of my life. I thought He'd wreck it -- but I discovered he knows how to handle even the roughest roads in my life. Now I'm learning to be quiet and pedal in the strangest places. I'm beginning to enjoy the view, the challenge of the ride, as well as the cool breeze on my face with my delightful constant companion -- Jesus Christ. When it seems I just can't take anymore, I keep my eyes and faith on Him. He looks at me, with a big smile, and says: ". . . Keep on Pedaling. God says in Isaiah 41:10 "Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am Your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious hand."

Eagles in a Storm..............

Eagles in a Storm..............

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks? The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it. The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm. When the storms of life come upon us - and all of us will experience them - we can rise above them by setting our minds and our belief toward God. The storms do not have to overcome us. We can allow God's power to lift us above them. God enables us to ride the winds of the storm. That brings sickness, tragedy, failure and disappointment in our lives. We can soar above the storm. Remember, it is not the burdens of life that weigh us down; it is how we handle them. Friends even Bible speaks the same thing in Isaiah 40:31, But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. God bless you.

The BIble Lives... ... ...

The Bible Lives……….

Generation follows generation – yet it lives. Nations rise and fall – yet it lives. Kings, dictators, rulers come and go – yet it lives. Torn, condemned, burned – yet it lives. Hated, despised, cursed – yet it lives. Doubted, suspected, and criticized – yet it lives. Damned by atheists – yet it lives. Scoffed at by scorners– yet it lives. Exaggerated by fanatics – yet it lives. Misconstrued and misstated – yet it lives. Ranted and raved about – yet it lives. Its inspiration denied – yet it lives. Yet it lives – as a lamp to our feet. Yet it lives – as a light to our paths. Yet it lives – as the gate to Heaven. Yet it lives – as a standard for childhood. Yet it lives – as a guide for youth. Yet it lives – as an inspiration for the matured. Yet it lives – as a comfort for the aged. Yet it lives – as food for the hungry. Yet it lives – as water for the thirsty. Yet it lives – as rest for the weary. Yet it lives – as light for the heathen. Yet it lives – as salvation for the sinner. Yet it lives – as grace for the believer. To know it is to love it. To love it is to accept it. To accept it means life eternal.

"My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power" (1 Corinthians 2:3-5). In the work world, we are trained to press through obstacles, no matter the cost. However, perseverance that is not directed by the Holy Spirit is only sweat and toil. We must learn to walk the fine line between these two concepts. On this subject of relying on our human strength, Watchman Nee wrote: I believe many people are so rich and strong that they give no ground for God to work. I frequently recall the words, "helpless and hopeless." I must tell God, "all that I have is yours, I myself have nothing. Apart from you I am truly helpless and hopeless." We need to have such a dependent attitude toward God that it is as if we cannot inhale or exhale without Him. In this way we shall see that our power as well as our holiness all comes from Him. Oh how God delights in seeing us coming hopeless and helpless to Him. A brother once asked me, "What is the condition for the working of the Spirit?" To which I replied that . . . the Holy Spirit must first bring us to a place where we can do nothing by ourselves. Of course, God gives us our natural skills and He will use them, although it can be hard at times to tell whether it is God working through us or if it is our natural skill alone making things happen. We need to try to distinguish the difference even as we resist over-analyzing (which can result in paralysis by analysis). The apostle Paul understood that it was not his ability to deliver eloquent sermons that changed people. It was the power of God working through him. If God's power comes through our work, that brings glory to the Father.

David’s Lord and Gideon’s Friend………..

David's Lord and Gideon's Friend………..

By whom was David taught to aim the deadly blow, when he Goliath fought, and laid the Gittite low? Nor sword nor spear the stripling took, But chose a pebble from the brook, it was Israel's God and King who sent him to the fight; Who gave him strength to fling, And skill to aim aright. Ye feeble saints, your strength endures, because young David's God is yours. Who ordered Gideon forth, to storm th'invaders' camp with arms of little worth, a pitcher and a lamp? The trumpets made His coming known and the entire host was overthrown. Oh! I have seen the day, When with a single word, God helping me to say, "My trust is in the Lord," My soul hath quelled a thousand foes, Fearless of all that could oppose. But unbelief, self will, Self righteousness, and pride, how often do they steal my weapon from my side! Yet David's Lord, and Gideon's Friend, Will help His servant to the end. Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You may be walking through your valley of shadow. Sometimes it may seem like the enemy surrounds you everywhere, but remember that Lord Will never let you be by yourself, He will always be with you. Don't be afraid. Pray to God, to give you strength and wisdom to guide you to the light from your shadow. Be strong; be brave for, God is with you.

Hear what the Lord has done for me...........

Hear what the Lord has done for me...........

What various hindrances we meet in coming to a mercy seat; yet who that knows the worth of prayer, but wish to be often there. Prayer makes the darkened cloud withdraw, prayer climbs the ladder Jacob saw; Gives exercise to faith and love, brings every blessing from above. Restraining prayer, we cease to fight; Prayer makes the Christian's armor bright; and Satan trembles, when he sees the weakest saint upon his knees. While Moses stood with arms spread wide, Success was found on Israel's side; but when through weariness they failed, that moment Amalek prevailed. Have you no words? Ah, think again, Words flow apace when you complain; and fill your fellow creature's ear, with the sad tale of all your care. Were half the breath thus vainly spent, To Heav'n in supplication sent; your cheerful song would oftener be, "Hear what the Lord has done for me."

Promise for the Day: Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Psalm 103:2 (NKJV)

The Call of the Barnyard.... .... .....

The Call of the Barnyard……………

Flocks of wild ducks were flying in formation, heading south for the winter. They formed a beautiful V in the sky, and were admired by everyone who saw them from below. One day, Wally, one of the wild ducks in the formation, spotted something on the ground that caught his eye. It was a barnyard with a flock of tame ducks that lived on the farm. They were waddling around on the ground, quacking merrily and eating corn that was thrown on the ground for them every day. Wally liked what he saw. "It sure would be nice to have some of that corn," he thought to himself. "And all this flying is very tiring. I'd like to just waddle around for a while." So after thinking it over a while, Wally left the formation of wild ducks, made a sharp dive to the left, and headed for the barnyard. He landed among the tame ducks, and began to waddle around and quack merrily. He also started eating corn. The formation of wild ducks continued their journey south, but Wally didn't care. "I'll rejoin them when they come back north in a few months," he said to himself. Several months went by and sure enough, Wally looked up and spotted the flock of wild ducks in formation, heading north. They looked beautiful up there. And Wally was tired of the barnyard. It was muddy and everywhere he waddled, nothing but duck doo. "It's time to leave," said Wally. So Wally flapped his wings furiously and tried to get airborne. But he had gained some weight from all his corn-eating, and he hadn't exercised his wings much either. He finally got off the ground, but he was flying too low and slammed into the side of the barn. He fell to the ground with a thud and said to himself, "Oh, well, I'll just wait until they fly south in a few months. Then I'll rejoin them and become a wild duck again." But when the flock flew overhead once more, wally again tried to lift himself out of the barnyard. He simply didn't have the strength. Every winter and every spring, he saw his wild duck friends flying overhead, and they would call out to him. But his attempts to leave were all in vain.  Eventually Wally no longer paid any attention to the wild ducks flying overhead. He hardly even noticed them. He had, after all, become a barnyard duck. Sometimes we get tired of being wild ducks-followers of Jesus Christ. It's not always easy to be obedient to God and to discipline ourselves to hang in there for the long haul. When we are feeling that way, that's when Satan tempts us to "fall out of formation" and to join the barnyard ducks - the world. But look what happened to Wally. He thought he would just "check it out" for awhile and then leave when he wanted to. But he couldn't do it. Sin is like that. Sin is a trap, and it has a way of changing us into people we don't even want to become. Eventually we lose touch with who we really are--the sons and daughters of the Most High. We become barnyard ducks.

Promise for the Day: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)

When I Said..........

When I Said………….

When I said to the Lord "I am so short of where you want me to be."
He gently answered "That's okay. That's all the farther you and I can walk together."

When I said to the Lord "I don't know who I am."
He gently answered "That's okay. I know who you are."

When I said to the Lord "I am so tired of fighting."
He gently answered "That's okay. Satan is down for the count."

When I said to the Lord "My actions aren't reflecting my heart."
He gently answered "That's okay. Mine did."

When I said to the Lord "My mind is corrupted."
He gently answered "That's okay. Use mine for awhile."

When I said to the Lord "I don't know how to love."
He gently answered "That's okay. I will give you free lessons"
